YORK, NY - July 16, 2002 - Stock Media Corporation
is forming the first marketing network for the
stock photo industry. Echoing the model of online
exchanges in other industries, the StockMedia.net
marketing network will have a cooperative-like
business structure that uniquely pays a 20% to 30%
sales commission to photographers, agents and
companies for referring clients to the network
while simultaneously paying 50% to 70% in royalties
to copyright holders.
Network
members, which include both resellers and
suppliers, have the optional benefits of displaying
their own brand on photo searches, limiting photos
displayed in search results to those of one
supplier, viewing sales reports instantaneously
online, analyzing client search and use statistics
online, communicating with clients in collaborative
lightboxes, enabling searchable links from any
other web site, controlling the countries of sale,
and of controlling the licensing fees per image and
per country.

our 25 years in this industry, we've experienced
first hand the success of the nineties and its
current depression," says Stock Media CEO Randy
Taylor. "The timing is right to break from the old
formula that's based on maintaining a limited
number of subagents, each with regional
exclusivity. This new marketing network will enable
good sales people and innovative photographers to
not only survive, but to rise above the
fray."
The
marketing network will be centered online at
www.stockmedia.net which will relaunch in Summer,
2002. The new business plan will include print
market sales. Network functionality will be made
possible by the newly released version 2.0 of Stock
Media 2000 licensing software, the fastest and most
versatile platform available for commercial use by
agencies. Other sites that are powered by Stock
Media 2000 software, such as SolusImages.com and
Mira.com, will also be upgraded to version 2.0 for
optional network participation.
Stock
Media is seeking U.S. and non-U.S. resellers to
refer clients to the marketing network in exchange
for 20% to 30% of sales. Resellers are unburdened
by the expense of technology, editing, archiving,
supplier relations, and fulfillment which are paid
for by suppliers and by the network. Fulfillment
will be all digital and will be done by
scan-on-demand from suppliers or by instant online
download from supplier servers in the network or
from Stock Media servers.
